What Kind of Friends I Can Make? (どんなトモダチできるかな Donna Tomodachi Dekiru kana) is the third episode of the anime adaptation of Kin-iro Mosaic. This episode introduces Alice Cartelet's childhood friend, Karen Kujō.
Story
Plot
Whilst looking through an old photo album, Alice tells the others about her half-Japanese friend from England, Karen Kujo, who helped teach her Japanese. The next day, they are alarmed to find themselves face-to-face with the girl in question, who moves to Japan in order to fulfill a promise to Alice. As Karen gets along with the others, Alice starts to question her own worth and grows jealous of the attention she gets, but while Karen is easily able to get along with Shino and her friends, she is unable to make friends in her own class. After asking the others for advice, Karen learns how Aya became friends with Shinobu and Yōko after transferring into middle school, and soon Karen manages to speak clearly with her classmates.

Ever since Alice came to Japan, Shinobu and her friends had a feeling there were more foreigners around them than ever. Yoko talks about the blond-haired girl who she saw a couple of days ago. Actually, that was Karen Kujo, a friend of Alice in the UK, and she came to Shinobu's highschool as a transfer student. Shinobu gets easily fascinated Karen's more-British behaviour. But that makes Alice be jealous toward Karen...
